Lifetouch Inc will be on campus on Wednesday February 1st to take a panoramic picture of the school.  If you would like to order a copy, please fill out the flyer below (or look out for the one that came home in your Thursday Packet) and return it to the school with your payment on or before Wednesday February 1st.  Don't forget to wear your best!

Join us on Friday February 10th, 2012, from 5-8pm in the Madison Elementary School Cafeteria for a benefit night for Madison’s 5th Grade Science Camp fund.  There will be:

• LIVE MUSIC from local bands South Bay Blues Authority (featuring Madison dad Eric Cunningham) and Side Effects (featuring Redondo Union High School students)
• HOT FOOD - A wide selection of gourmet food truck fare will be on sale.
• SILENT AUCTION - Lots of hot items to bid on!

Admission is FREE, however, make donation at the door and receive a ticket for an opportunity drawing.   HELP SEND A KID TO SCIENCE CAMP!

Do you have, or work for, a business that you would like to promote by donating items or services?  All donations are tax-deductible and the donor can put business cards and brochures by their item at the auction.  We will also gladly accept personal donations of new/unused items from individuals or families.  Please feel free to forward this request to any businesses that you know of who might be interested in supporting this event.  Please bring donations to the school office by Friday February 3rd.  If you have any questions about either of these events, please contact October Ryan at octobersryan@gmail.com.  Thank you very much for your support!

Madison PTA is organizing a Camp Expo, to be held on Saturday March 24th in the school cafeteria.  Families from all over Redondo Beach are invited to come along and check out a wide variety of summer camp programs, youth activities and classes and family-friendly vacations. There will also be a silent auction, with items donated by vendors, plus a special prize draw for attendees.

After-school Spanish lessons for Grades 1-3 begin on Wednesday January 18, 2012, from 1:30-2:15pm, and continue for 10 weeks until March 21st.  Price: $140 per 10-week session.  Please click on the link below for the application form

YOU can help save the environment AND raise money for our school by recycling your empty soda cans and plastic water bottles!  Please save your bottles and cans and bring them to the new Recycling Center on the main playground.  (It would be really helpful if you could presort your recyclables into separate bags – cans in one, bottles in the other).  At the moment, we are ONLY accepting aluminum soda cans and plastic bottles (types #1 and #2) at the Recycling Center (look for the words “CA CRV” or CA CASH REFUND” on the side) – for safety reasons, please do NOT bring glass.

All proceeds from the recycling center are going towards this year’s 5^th Grade Outdoor Science Camp.

Parents (especially 5^th grade), if you have a truck or large cargo space and are free on a Friday morning, please contact Mr Ledoux at 310-798-8623 or jledoux@rbusd.org.  We will be making trips to the Inglewood Ave recycling center every other Friday (starts 1/6/12).

Look in your newspaper on Jan 8th for a special collection sheet from Campbell's labels. We get bonus points for every sheet filled.  There are many labels to collect, please check out the link below for participating products

Madison PTA is now taking orders for the Madison School 2011-2012 Yearbook.  Please click on the link below to order your yearbook online through the Madison Cometstore.  The price is $16 per copy if ordered before February 29th and $20 if ordered later.  Orders must be received by March 31st to guarantee delivery.

Madison's Recycling Center needs your help!  Please save your aluminum cans and plastic water bottles and bring them to the Recycling Center shed on the main playground  between 8:00 - 8:30 am.

Parent volunteers are also needed to take recycling to the recycling center on Inglewood Ave. (behind In'n'Out Burger) every other Friday at 9:00 am.  All proceeds go to scholarships for the 5th grade outdoor science camp.  Please contact Mr. Ledoux at jledoux@rbusd.org if you have any questions or can offer to help.
